The Great American Main Street Award is the highest honor a downtown district can receive. Since 1995, only 112 communities have earned this recognition, making it a rare and meaningful milestone. Each year, Main Street America highlights winners for their exceptional efforts in transforming historic downtowns. Criteria include economic vitality, creative placemaking, preservation efforts, and strong community partnerships.

As one of the first Main Street programs in Texas, established in 1989, we’ve spent years investing in our community. Thanks to initiatives like our Façade Grant Program, we’ve removed all slipcovers from buildings on Main Street, revealing their original beauty. These efforts have helped restore the grandeur of our multi-story architecture, which continues to draw visitors and photographers alike.
