Pickleball is on the Rise in Denison

Pickleball is sweeping the nation, and this town’s no different. Local players are picking up their paddles and heading down to courts right here in Denison.

Considering how easy it is to learn how to play pickleball, it’s not at all surprising. The game is played at a slower pace than most other racket sports and accessible to players of all abilities and fitness levels, so getting involved is a piece of cake!

What Is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a unique combination of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. Players compete on a compact court and use large paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over a small net.

Inclusivity is one of the main reasons why pickleball has become so popular, with the sport enjoyed by players across a wide range of age demographics.

More than 36.5 million players played the game in the US during 2022, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Most players pick up the game quickly, and often cite the welcoming community as a key reason for sticking around.

Another reason for pickleball’s enduring success is the sport’s accessible and affordable equipment. All you need is a paddle, a regulation-sized ball and a pair of athletic shoes with good grip.

If you’d like to improve your fitness and find a local community of like-minded people to spend time with, pickleball is an excellent opportunity to do so.
